Call for Pricing

Help drive blade server virtualization with the QLogic® 8200 Series. It offers 10GbE Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) connectivity and investment protection for data centers with existing FC storage area networks (SANs).

  • High performance LAN and SAN networking with 10GbE Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) connectivity
  • Help lower TCO and data center costs through LAN and SAN convergence and preservation of familiar data and storage networking concepts
  • NPAR (NIC partitioning) divides a physical port into four logical ports with flexible allocation of 10GbE bandwidth

High performance and efficiency

QLogic QME8242-k - High performance and efficiency
QLogic QME8242-k - 10GbE Ethernet connection is fully supported
Data and storage networking across a 10GbE Ethernet connection is fully supported. Also supports PCI Express Gen2 x8 data transfer on the host side.
QLogic QME8242-k - Offloads all FCoE and iSCSI protocol processing to the adapter
Offloads all FCoE and iSCSI protocol processing to the adapter, freeing up server CPU cycles to enable faster apps performance compared to 10GbE NIC solutions that use software FCoE or iSCSI initiators.
QLogic QME8242-k - Low total cost of ownership (TCO)

Low total cost of ownership (TCO)

  • Can reduce TCO through LAN and SAN convergence, which helps lower HBA/NIC, cabling, edge switch, power, cooling and management costs, and through preservation of WWN, LUN masking and zoning.
  • Works seamlessly with existing Fibre Channel storage, core Fibre Channel switches and existing Fibre Channel management utilities when combined with an FCoE-capable switch.
  • Does not require a forklift upgrade of existing data center infrastructure to implement.

Switch-agnostic NPAR (NIC partitioning)

  • NPAR enables each physical port to be logically divided into four logical ports with flexible allocation of 10GbE bandwidth.
  • One CNA is viewed by the server operating system as a mix of standalone NICs, FCoE adapters and iSCSI adapters, with the ability to allocate guaranteed bandwidth to each virtual adapter.
  • It is not necessary to pair an 8200 Series adapter with any specific 10GbE switch model to enable partitioning.
